Corn germ meal is a by-product of corn germ as raw material after pressing or extracting oil. Also known as corn navel meal. Generally, before the production of corn starch, the corn is soaked, broken, the germ is separated, and then the oil is taken. The oil extraction process is divided into dry method and wet method. After taking the oil, the corn germ meal is obtained.
Corn germ meal contains 18% ~ 20% crude protein, 1% ~ 2% crude fat and 11% ~ 12% crude fiber. Its amino acid composition is similar to that of corn protein feed (or corn gluten feed). Although the name belongs to cake, most products belong to medium-grade energy feed according to the international feed classification. In terms of protein quality, although the protein quality of corn germ meal is higher than that of grain energy feed, the content of various restrictive amino acids is lower than that of corn gluten powder, cotton and rapeseed meal.
