Application of cottonseed meal in poultry feed

Yuan Chao et al. (2014) studied the effects of cottonseed meal on egg production performance, egg quality and free gossypol residue in egg products of laying hens. The results showed that the egg production rate and average egg weight of the group adding 8% expanded cottonseed cypress were significantly higher than those of the group adding 6% cottonseed meal (P<0.05), and the yolk color of the latter was significantly lighter (P<0.05). In addition, adding 6% cottonseed meal significantly increased the concentration of free gossypol in egg yolk and egg white. Batonon -- Alavo et al. Qiu Liangwei et al. Feng Jiangxin et al. (2015) showed that the apparent metabolic rate of crude protein, calcium and phosphorus, average daily gain and feed conversion rate of yellow-feathered broilers added with cottonseed meal were significantly increased.
